Henri joined the CIT (now CILT) as a Student Member in his first term as a transport planning undergraduate at Aston University in 1975 and became a Chartered Member and subsequently stepped up to a Chartered Fellow in 1981 and 2011, respectively.

The Institute has a strong impact in the early journey of his career in transport planning. The Knowledge Centre, one of the largest in the world, was a very useful source of information for his doctoral research. The Institute’s Horace Ngan Scholarship in 1986 helped to broaden his understanding of the real world as a young consultant.

Over a 40-year transport consultancy career, involving both passenger and freight transport, Henri consulted on 100+ assignments in 31 countries across six continents, for supra-national and central governments, multi-lateral and major international private banks, triple-A rated monoline insurers, and infrastructure and pension funds.

In recent years he has devoted a significant amount of  time and effort to the issues of transport transition away from fossil fuels and to advancing CILT’s object. Since 2021, Henri has been the Chair of the London Region of CILT UK to further the Institute’s purpose and to provide value to the members and beyond.

I am humbled to be a Trustee and, as a Stronger Together subscriber, I am looking forward to sharing my experience and network with others to hopefully have the same experience of influence and success.
