I have been in the institute since 1992 and I am a chartered accountant with a varied career path covering different financial management positions. I qualified with Deloitte & Co in the City of London, and then worked for the Ocean Group plc for 19 years progressing through various financial roles covering both the UK and abroad, including roles in ships agency, freight forwarding, oil and gas distribution, and culminating as finance director of their logistics company McGregor Cory. I then gained experience in the food sector, where logistics supply is crucial, where I participated in two management buyouts, and I have performed many financial interim roles in different organisations. I recently sold the majority of my accountancy practice, and I now present lectures on management courses mainly in London and the Middle East. I am also on the UK Board as a Trustee in my role of Chairman of the Audit & Finance Committee for the UK..

Due to recent events, the future of our Institute will be even more important as we all benefit from new ways of operating in all modes of transport and logistics internationally. Many providers have had severe financial and operational challenges, and their future survival depends on gaining productivity from new ways of innovation. Our Institute is in a superb position to foster this new approach and help our members keep pace with these new developments by providing knowledge and learning resources to drive our profession forwards. I look forward to helping this process to happen by ensuring our Institute is robust financially, both here in the UK and internationally, to ensure we maintain this leading role.
