Paul MacdonaldHonorary Treasurer & Trustee
I am proud to be associated with the Institute and its important work in connecting the world. I have been aware of the CILT (and its predecessors), since 2000 when I joined Wincanton Logistics as the Finance Director -Retail BU. Client facing with the major UK & Irish Retailers as a 3PL. Eg Tesco, Sainsbury, B&Q, Ikea, Comet, Superquinn & Musgraves amongst others. Services were expanded for customers into Reverse Logistics and Inbound freight via two separate JVs.
In 2003, I became Finance Director of UK & Ireland following the acquisition and integration of P&O Trans-European Logistics. By now the services covered all sectors of the UK & Irish economies. In 2006, I joined Deutsche Post – DHL, initially working on the integration of the newly acquired Exel plc. Going on to be SVP Global Controller and living in Germany to set-up the new Division, as part of the DPAG Group. From 2010 – 2015 I led the Global Finance Transformation program, working with regional and country leadership and social partners , as we significantly improved business information, financial compliance and efficiency.
In 2015 I left DHL and joined BT plc in London working on the integration of their EE acquisition. In 2017, I formed my own strategy & change consultancy and worked out of Bradford-on-Avon, near Bath in the UK, where I live with my family.
A graduate of Glasgow University’s School of Engineering in 1987 (B.Eng Mechanical Engineering), I have supported educational & training charities since joining Procter & Gamble’s Commercial Finance team in 1987, which is where I qualified as an ACMA.
Organisations include Young Enterprise; various educational Academy Trusts (mainstream and SEN) and lastly as both Chair of Walsingham Support Community Solutions and a Trustee on the parent body Walsingham Support. A UK charity supporting 550+ adults with complex needs.
I look forward to using my skills and experiences to the benefit of the CILT’s purpose and to meeting and learning from the CILT family.
