I have been a member of the institute for almost 30 years and was encouraged to join (by a previous boss) as a way of developing my professional skills and networks; I believe many of us are encouraged to join in a similar way.

My professional career started in retail purchasing and supply management before moving into a variety automotive supply chain roles; within the IT industry I was involved in 1994 with transactional websites and then moved into business services and into third party logistics where I remained until 2013. I have now established a business to help young people get into our industry.

My business development roles gradually got me more actively engaged in the development of CILT(UK) and it’s ‘focus groups’ and industry sectors; and I Chaired the UK board for four years before becoming a UK Vice President and then an International Vice President.
