An Update from the International President: March

Hear from International President, Chief Teete OWUSU-NORTEY, FCILT, FGIPS as he discusses International Women’s Day, announces our first Volunteer of the Month, and highlights Africa Forum 2025.

International Women’s Day

As we welcome March, we have much to celebrate, starting with International Women’s Day on 8th March 2025, a day to recognise and honour the incredible contributions of women in supply chain, logistics, and transport.

At CILT International, we are proud of Women in Logistics and Transport (WiLAT), our global forum dedicated to empowering women across our sector. On 3rd March 2025, WiLAT hosted a special webinar titled “Accelerate: Values in Action” in celebration of International Women’s Day. The session focused on the importance of values-driven leadership and how it can drive meaningful change in our industry. For those who joined, I hope the session proved an inspiring and insightful discussion.

This month, I also want to highlight the incredible work of our International Secretariat, an all-women-led team whose dedication and leadership continue to make a profound impact on CILT and the global logistics, transport, and supply chain profession. Their hard work is a shining example of the remarkable role women play in our organisation.

Chief Teete OWUSU-NORTEY Volunteer of the Month

We are also thrilled to announce the first-ever recipient of the Chief Teete OWUSU-NORTEY Volunteer of the Month Award – Alice Yip. This award recognises those who go above and beyond in their volunteer efforts, and Alice’s dedication, exceptional work ethic, and positive impact to her branch is an inspiration to us all. Please join me in congratulating Alice for this well-deserved honour.

With this announcement, we also want to encourage you to nominate someone who deserves recognition for their volunteer work. Submissions for the next Volunteer of the Month will close on Wednesday 19th March 2025. This is your chance to highlight those individuals who have made a difference in their communities and across our network.

For those attending the Forum, I highly recommend exploring the beauty and culture of Rwanda through our optional post-forum excursions. These paid add-ons include exciting activities such as a morning at the newly refurbished Kigali 18-hole golf course, an evening at the vibrant Boho Lounge, a visit to Fazenda Sengha, dining at Kōzo Kigali, and an overnight stay at the stunning Lake Kivu Serena Hotel. These excursions are a great way to unwind after the forum and truly immerse yourself in Rwanda’s culture and beauty. Please note these excursions are optional and must be paid for separately.

Let’s celebrate the women leading change in our industry, recognise the incredible volunteers in our network, and come together at the Africa Forum to shape the future of supply chain, logistics, and transportation.
