Call for Nominations: Join the International Membership Standards Committee (IMSC)

We are pleased to invite expressions of interest from CILT members who would like to serve on our new International Membership Standards Committee (IMSC).
The IMSC will consist of:
-
Chair (Elizabeth Gilliard FCILT, UK IVP and Trustee, nominated by the Court of Trustees)
-
Two International Vice Presidents (IVPs)
-
The Secretary General
-
Up to three additional Institute members
In addition, representatives from WiLAT and Next Generation will be invited to join as advisors.
The Committee will play a key role in supporting CILT’s commitment to strong, globally relevant membership standards, while respecting local laws, cultures, and the independence of National Councils.
About the Role
Members will serve an initial 3-year term, with the option to extend for up to two additional one-year terms if agreed. The Committee will meet four times per year (three virtually and one face-to-face at the annual Convention). The workload is expected to be strategic rather than operational, and not overly time-consuming.
Importantly, the IMSC does not replace the work of the Membership Panel, which will continue to review applications. However, some members of the Panel may wish to be considered for the new Committee.
Who Should Apply?
We welcome nominations from members across all CILT regions and encourage a diversity of professional backgrounds and geographic representation. Only 2 IVPs and 3 additional members will be appointed, so we will ensure all countries and regions are consulted on any material changes to standards.
Interested candidates should submit a short statement outlining:
-
Their CILT journey and contributions so far
-
Why they would be a good representative for their region
-
Their approach to membership standards and audit, with respect to local laws and cultures
-
Confirmation of support from their Country or Region Chair, and agreement that travel costs for the one annual face-to-face meeting will be met locally (not by CILT International)
Submission deadline
The deadline for submissions is 26th August 2025. Please send your statement of interest to our International Membership executive, Frankie McGreevy, at Frankie.McGreevy@ciltinternational.org
Help us shape the future of membership standards together. The first IMSC meeting will take place at the CILT International Convention in Sri Lanka this September. We look forward to your involvement.
