Celebrating Our February Volunteer of the Month: Peck Yong Chia (PY)

We are pleased to announce Peck Yong Chia (PY) from CILT Singapore as our February Volunteer of the Month! With over 30 years of dedicated service to CILT Singapore, PY’s contributions have been instrumental in keeping members and stakeholders informed and engaged.
Currently serving as Hon Treasurer, and having previously held roles as Director of Communications and Director of Publications, PY is the driving force behind CILT Buzz, Singapore’s online newsletter. His commitment to researching, curating, and publishing relevant and topical content each month ensures that the publication reaches a wide audience, including governmental bodies, corporate members, higher learning institutions, and major transport and logistics organisations. His work has not only enhanced the visibility of CILT Singapore but also strengthened its reputation as a leading voice in the sector.
Chief Teete OWUSU-NORTEY, FCILT, International President of CILT, shares his appreciation for PY’s impact:
The Volunteer of the Month Award is designed to honour those who go the extra mile to support our global community. Peck Yong Chia’s dedication to ensuring CILT Singapore’s members stay informed through high-quality communications is truly commendable. His commitment, innovative approach, and ability to bring people together through knowledge sharing exemplify the very best of CILT’s volunteer spirit. Please join me in congratulating PY on this well-deserved recognition.
Each month, PY dedicates his time to ensuring CILT Buzz is produced on schedule, delivering high-quality articles that resonate with industry professionals. His efforts have received widespread praise, with readers highlighting the engaging presentation, valuable insights, and in-depth coverage of key logistics and transport issues. To further elevate the publication, PY is working on integrating multimedia elements, such as video links, to enrich the reading experience.
Beyond his editorial work, PY is actively mentoring the next generation of CILT members who share his passion for writing and communications. His guidance is helping to develop future leaders who can continue shaping the institute’s publications and outreach efforts. His long-standing dedication was recognised with a long service award from CILT Singapore’s Patron, Minister for Transport, Mr Chee Hong Tat, and he has also been conferred FCILT for his outstanding contributions.
