Celebrating Our May Volunteer of the Month – Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Jessica Ong Hai Liaw FCILT

Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Jessica Ong Hai Liaw is recognised as May’s Volunteer of the Month for empowering women and leading impactful initiatives through WiLAT CILT Malaysia.

CILT International is proud to recognise Assoc. Prof. Ts. Dr. Jessica Ong Hai Liaw FCILT, Chairperson of WiLAT CILT Malaysia, as our May Volunteer of the Month.

A dynamic and visionary leader, Dr. Jessica has played a central role in empowering women in logistics and transport, both in Malaysia and across the wider CILT community. Her work reflects a deep commitment to mentoring, community engagement, and elevating the visibility of underrepresented voices in our profession.

Highlights of Dr. Jessica’s contributions include:

  • Founder of WiLAT Kitchen (WMIK) – A unique initiative using food enterprise as a platform for skills development, empowerment and community outreach.

  • Lead organiser of the Humanitarian Logistics Tour – Raising awareness and promoting action around the importance of humanitarian logistics in times of crisis.

  • Driving force behind the FemForward Awards – Celebrating women leaders and recognising their contributions to the logistics and transport sector.

  • Mentorship and Next Generation development – Actively guiding future professionals through WiLAT and related programmes.

  • Recognition of Unsung Heroines – Championing the stories of women who have made quiet but significant impacts in logistics and transport across Malaysia.

  • Content and community engagement – Using her voice and platform to shape the public narrative around gender equality, logistics innovation, and social responsibility.

Who can be nominated?

The Volunteer of the Month award honours the dedication and contributions of members who serve CILT in a voluntary capacity, generously giving their time, skills and passion to support our community and mission.

Eligible nominees are:

  • All members actively involved in CILT initiatives, events or projects as volunteers

  • Individuals who make a meaningful impact through their voluntary service
