CILT Türkiye: Driving Sustainability, Inclusion, and Innovation in Logistics and Transport

CILT Türkiye strengthens its global role through university partnerships, industry collaborations, and inclusive projects, promoting sustainability, gender equality, and innovation in supply chain, logistics and transportation.

CILT Türkiye continues to strengthen its role both locally and internationally, championing projects that combine sustainability, inclusion, and innovation. By forging strategic partnerships, engaging with universities, and contributing to global initiatives, the branch is actively shaping the future of supply chain, logistics, and transportation. With a strong focus on empowering women and young professionals, CILT Türkiye is ensuring the sector grows more inclusive while embracing technological and environmental advances.

Building Knowledge Through University Collaborations

CILT Türkiye is committed to inspiring the next generation of professionals through ongoing collaborations with Bahçeşehir University and Altınbaş University. The “CILT Lectures & Lessons” programme brings students, academics, and sector leaders together to share expertise, foster dialogue, and promote career development opportunities in logistics and transport.

Strategic Partnerships for a Sustainable Future

Strong partnerships with organisations such as TÜRSAB (Association of Turkish Travel Agencies) and TÜRKLİM (Port Operators Association of Turkey) are helping to advance projects that prioritise sustainability and create employment opportunities for women in logistics. These collaborations underline CILT Türkiye’s role in supporting inclusive growth and tackling key industry challenges.

Showcasing Innovation at Key Industry Fairs

Participation in leading fairs is a vital part of CILT Türkiye’s strategy to promote innovation and showcase expertise.

  • At the Hub of Warehouse (HoW) event, CILT Türkiye is engaging with innovators and logistics leaders on warehousing and automation technologies, strengthening its visibility as a hub of knowledge and expertise.

  • This year, CILT Türkiye will also host two dedicated panels at Logitrans, Eurasia’s premier logistics fair, including a session with senior CILT International executives on sustainability, talent development, and the future of logistics.

Leading the Way in Sustainable Port Operations

Through collaboration with TÜRKLİM, CILT Türkiye has joined the EU- and UNDP-backed project “Shore Power for Ships in Turkish Ports: A Participatory Roadmap for Sustainability and Climate Action.”
The initiative promotes the use of cold ironing systems in Turkish ports, reducing emissions by enabling ships to switch off their generators while berthed. CILT Türkiye contributes sector expertise and supports the project’s social sustainability by integrating women and young professionals into policy processes, reinforcing its influence in both national and global sustainability agendas.

Empowering Women in Transport and Tourism

CILT Türkiye is playing a central role in the “Women Tourism Driver Training and Employment Project”, developed in partnership with TÜRSAB and under the umbrella of WiLAT’s initiative “5 Years, 5 Thousand Women Drivers.”

The programme offers comprehensive training in driving, safety, communication, and digital literacy, alongside career development workshops. Graduates will be directed into employment in the tourism and passenger transport sectors, raising both service quality and women’s visibility as professional drivers in Türkiye.

Opening Pathways in Heavy Vehicle Operations

In partnership with Mercedes, CILT Türkiye is driving inclusivity in the trucking industry through the “Women Truck Driver Recruitment Project.” Mercedes has committed to hiring 20 women drivers, with CILT Türkiye supporting candidate selection, certification, and preparation for employment. By creating new opportunities in a traditionally male-dominated sector, the project highlights the critical role WiLAT plays in advancing gender equality and social sustainability in logistics and transport.

Looking Ahead

Through these initiatives, CILT Türkiye is reinforcing its position as a dynamic and forward-looking organisation. By promoting sustainability, inclusion, and professional excellence, the branch is ensuring that the logistics and transport sector in Türkiye not only keeps pace with global trends but also sets new standards of innovation and opportunity.
