WiLAT Welcomes Back Gayani de Alwis FCILT as Interim Global Chairperson

Gayani de Alwis FCILT appointed Interim Global Chairperson of WiLAT, leading international growth, mentoring initiatives, and advocating gender diversity in supply chain, logistics & transportation.

Gayani, a distinguished leader within the CILT community, previously served as Global WiLAT Chairperson from July 2020 to June 2023, and now returns to the role on an interim basis until a substantive appointment is made.

In this position, Gayani will continue to guide WiLAT’s international growth and development, providing leadership to the WiLAT Steering Committee (WSC) and WiLAT Global Council (WGC), and representing the forum within CILT’s global governance structure.

Gayani has made a lasting impact on the WiLAT network since co-founding WiLAT Sri Lanka in 2013, where she launched the Ignite mentoring programme, which has since expanded internationally. A passionate advocate for gender diversity and professional excellence in the supply chain, logistics and transportation industries, Gayani has also been instrumental in launching initiatives such as the UN Women HeForShe programme and CILT Sri Lanka’s Corporate Partnership Programme.

Her extensive professional background includes leadership roles at Unilever Sri Lanka, Singer Sri Lanka PLC, and Logicare Pvt Ltd, as well as contributions to several boards supporting women’s empowerment and corporate social responsibility.

We also take this opportunity to extend our sincere thanks to Vicky Koo FCILT for her exceptional service as Global WiLAT Chairperson. During her tenure, Vicky provided steady leadership and strengthened WiLAT’s global presence, while supporting collaboration across the CILT family.

Vicky has now taken up the position of Honorary Secretary of CILT International, continuing her dedicated contribution to the Institute’s global mission of advancing professional excellence in supply chain, logistics and transportation.
