CILT Nigeria welcomes new President Dr Boboye Oyeyemi FCILT

CILT Nigeria has appointed Dr Boboye Oyeyemi FCILT as its new President, following a four year tenure of significant growth and reform under Barrister Mfon Ekong Usoro FCILT.

CILT Nigeria has entered a new chapter today with the formal investiture of Dr Boboye Oyeyemi OFR, mni, NPOM, FCILT as the 21st President and Chairman of Council. The ceremony, held at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs in Lagos, also included the swearing in of the new National Council and marked the official handover from the outgoing President, Barrister Mfon Ekong Usoro FCILT.

The transition follows a highly active and transformative four year administration. In her stewardship report, President Usoro reflected on the progress achieved between October 2021 and November 2025, outlining extensive development across governance, membership, education, branch growth and strategic engagement.

During this period, CILT Nigeria strengthened its national footprint, expanding to more than fifteen active branches and chapters. New branches were established in Calabar, Uyo and Kano, the Oron branch was revived, and additional chapters were created in Adamawa, Taraba, Gombe, Sokoto and Nasarawa. This expansion widened access to professional qualifications and ensured stronger representation across the country.

Membership growth was a defining achievement of the outgoing administration. Registrations increased from 169 in late 2021 to 704 in 2025, supported by clearer upgrade processes, improved digital systems and targeted branch engagement. This growth has reinforced CILT Nigeria’s position as the largest and one of the most active CILT communities in Africa.

Significant governance reforms were introduced to strengthen transparency and compliance. The Institute regularised its corporate status, established a Board of Directors, addressed long standing regulatory filings, and implemented stricter financial controls through the Finance, Budget and Audit Committee. These measures contributed to sustained improvements in revenue and liquid assets over the four year period.

CILT Nigeria also modernised its operations through electronic elections, improved digital communication channels, upgraded IT infrastructure and the introduction of a more efficient online payment and membership system. The Territory enhanced its training and education provision with new collaborations, including work with the Nigerian Army College of Logistics and Management, the Bureau of Public Procurement, the Maritime Academy of Nigeria and accredited training providers delivering specialised short courses.

The administration’s work also increased CILT Nigeria’s participation in the wider CILT International community. Nigerian representatives contributed to international committees, academic forums and global conferences, strengthening the Territory’s role and visibility across the network.

With this foundation in place, the investiture of Dr Boboye Oyeyemi marks the beginning of the next phase of development. Dr Oyeyemi brings substantial experience in national transport leadership and public safety, including his service as Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps. His appointment is expected to support continued progress across governance, membership, professional development and strategic partnerships.

CILT International extends its appreciation to Barrister Mfon Ekong Usoro for her dedicated leadership and acknowledges the strong platform she leaves for the incoming Council. We warmly congratulate Dr Oyeyemi on his appointment and look forward to supporting CILT Nigeria under his tenure.

The handover and investiture ceremony is being streamed live for members and partners wishing to follow proceedings remotely. Full event details, including the Zoom link, have been circulated by CILT Nigeria.
