CILT Türkiye Holds 2nd General Assembly in Istanbul
Members of CILT Türkiye gathered in Istanbul on 9 March 2026 for the organisation’s 2nd General Assembly, held at the Hilton Istanbul Bomonti Hotel. The event brought together members, industry representatives and invited guests from across the logistics, transport and supply chain sector, and was attended by CILT International President Jan Steenberg.
The General Assembly provided an opportunity for the CILT Türkiye community to reflect on recent progress, engage with sector leaders and look ahead to the organisation’s next phase of development.
Opening addresses from sector leaders
The event began with opening addresses from representatives across academia, industry and government, including CILT Türkiye President Berna Akyıldız and CILT International President Jan Steenberg.
Additional addresses were delivered by:
• Prof. Dr. Kerem Alkin, Ambassador (Ret.) and Dean, Faculty of Communication, Topkapı University
• Salih Sami Atılgan, Board Member, Istanbul Chamber of Commerce (ITO)
• Durmuş Ünüvar, Deputy Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of Türkiye
Speakers highlighted the importance of collaboration across the logistics and transport sector and the growing role of professional development in supporting the future of the industry.
Reviewing progress and electing new leadership
During the assembly, CILT Türkiye presented its activity and financial reports for the 2023–2026 period, outlining key initiatives undertaken to strengthen the organisation and support the professional community across Türkiye.
Members also participated in the election of the new Board of Directors, marking the beginning of a new leadership term for the organisation.
Celebrating professional achievement
A highlight of the event was a membership certificate ceremony, where members received their official CILT International membership certificates. The certificates were presented by the presidents, recognising the professional commitment and achievements of members within the institute.
CILT International qualifications and membership pathways are recognised globally and support professionals at every stage of their career across logistics, transport and supply chain management.
Strengthening connections across the sector
The General Assembly concluded with a reception, providing members and guests with an opportunity to connect and continue discussions in a more informal setting.
