An Update from the International President: February

Dear CILT Family,
As we begin this month of February, I am delighted to share the excitement of the many initiatives we are introducing to strengthen our global community. Among these, I am particularly proud to announce the launch of the Volunteer of the Month programme, on Thursday 6th February, a personal legacy project that holds great significance for me as your International President and the first African to hold this esteemed position in CILT’s 105-year history.
As a living testimony of “service to humanity is service to God”, I have lived a fulfilled life as a Volunteer. I have lived through the lonely and hard times of volunteering which called for sacrifices that nearly cost my life, my business and essentially my everything. At a later day I will be sharing more on my volunteer journey which I am still very actively playing in my role now as International President. This is my inspiration to launch the Volunteer of the month programme.
This initiative is a celebration of the extraordinary contributions of our volunteers, who are the backbone of CILT. By recognising their efforts, we not only honour their dedication but also inspire others to contribute to our shared mission. It is through initiatives like this that we truly embody the spirit of being “Stronger Together”.

A Visit to Rwanda
I am also thrilled to highlight the upcoming 18th Annual Africa Forum, which will take place from 28th to 30th April 2025 at the Kigali Convention Centre in Rwanda. In preparation for this landmark event, I travelled to Rwanda in late January at the invitation of the Government to meet with the government officials and its related agencies, sponsors, exhibitors, stakeholders, captains of industry and the organising team, among others. The meetings were incredibly productive, laying a strong foundation for the forum’s success. This year’s event will bring together leaders, innovators and stakeholders from across the continent to discuss key challenges and opportunities within the Supply Chain, Logistics and Transportation sectors.
During my visit, I was also honoured to be interviewed by various media including the Rwanda Broadcasting Agency, the National Broadcasting House. In the interview, I proudly announced the launch of the new CILT Accredited Training Centre (Value Training Centre), shared exciting updates about collaborations with key stakeholders in Rwanda and extended a warm invitation to join us in Kigali for this transformative forum. Meet the COT Webinar
Lastly, I encourage you to take part in our Meet the Council of Trustees webinar this month on Wednesday 5th February 2025, a fantastic opportunity to engage directly with the leadership of our Institute. Looking ahead, we also have a series of education focused webinars planned throughout 2025, which will provide valuable learning opportunities for our members. Stay tuned for updates!
Thank you for your continued support, and I look forward to the positive impact we will create together this month and throughout the year.

Warm regards,
