CILT Ghana at 60: Celebrating Six Decades of Leadership and Global Impact

Last week marked a proud milestone as CILT Ghana celebrated its 60th anniversary. It was a moment that brought together national leaders, industry figures and members of the CILT family to reflect on six decades of service and achievement.
The anniversary launch was attended by the Chief of Staff of the Republic of Ghana, Hon. Julius Debrah, Deputy Minister for Transport Dorcas Affo-Toffey, Prof. Douglas Boateng, CILT Ghana President Mark Amoamah, captains of industry, and colleagues across the sector. Their presence highlighted the central role CILT Ghana has played in shaping the nation’s supply chain, logistics and transportation sector.

Reflections from the International President
Our International President, Chief Teete OWUSU-NORTEY FCILT, FGIPS, joined the celebration as Special Guest, describing the occasion as “an emotional moment filled with nostalgic feelings”. For Chief Teete, the event was an opportunity to reconnect with instructors, classmates and past leaders who laid the foundations of the Institute in Ghana.

Chief Teete’s journey is itself a testament to the branch’s legacy. Beginning his service as Honorary Treasurer and later Honorary Secretary of CILT Ghana, he rose to International Vice President for Africa, International Ambassador, Special Advisor to the Council of Trustees, International President Elect, and today, International President. His story is one of many that reflect how CILT Ghana has nurtured leaders who go on to make an impact across the world.

A Global Legacy
CILT Ghana’s influence extends far beyond its borders. The branch has produced an unprecedented number of individuals who now hold senior positions within the global Institute:
-
Doreen Owusu-Fianko FCILT – WiLAT Deputy Global Chair
-
Naa Densua Aryeetey FCILT – Global WiLAT Advisor
-
Patrick Andoh FCILT – WiLAT Global Administrator
This strong representation on the global stage underlines Ghana’s contribution to advancing inclusive leadership and professional excellence in supply chain, logistics and transportation.

Looking Ahead
As CILT Ghana marks 60 years, the Institute celebrates both its history and its future. The anniversary was not just a look back, but a call to continue building, innovating and leading.
On behalf of CILT International, we congratulate CILT Ghana on six decades of service and achievement. Your legacy is an inspiration to us all, a reminder that we are, and will always be, #StrongerTogether.
