CILT International Convention 2025: A Message from the International President
To the CILT community,
Thank you to all the countries who attended last week’s International Convention in Sri Lanka. Your presence and contributions were invaluable in bringing together the CILT family to better understand both the global challenges we face and each other.
I would like to take the opportunity to express my thanks on behalf of the whole Institute to CILT Sri Lanka for hosting the International Convention.
During the Convention we welcomed a new Honorary Secretary, Vicky Koo FCILT currently Global WiLAT Chairperson. As Honorary Secretary, Vicky will provide strategic guidance and governance support to the Council of Trustees, the International Management Committee (IMC), and CILT’s Territorial Governing Bodies and International Branches.
We also announced our new President Elect, Romesh David FCILT. Romesh will take up his post on 1 January 2026, when I step down as President. At that time, Jan Steenberg will succeed me. The President Elect chairs the IMC, supported by the International Secretariat, Vice-Presidents, and Council of Trustees.
We welcomed Dianah Nassimbwa MILT to her first International Convention as the new Global Chairperson of CILT Next Generation. Dianah and her new committee will be working with you all to build a stronger and more inclusive global network for young professionals, rooted in sustainability, digital transformation, and leadership development.
The Convention was an absolutely wonderful event bringing together the CILT family and we were indeed, stronger together. The speakers sourced were extraordinary, enabling delegates to better understand the theme of the conference and take back their learnings into their own organisations. We welcomed some 20 countries from the network; I was sorry we couldn’t welcome delegates from every country in which CILT is represented, but it is an aspiration for the 2026 Convention in Hong Kong. Further details will be with you as soon as we have them. Please contact your IVP, the secretariat team or me to discuss your representation at the 2026 event. It is imperative we have as much of the network represented at this meeting as possible – the face-to-face meeting is extremely valuable and you will gain much from the wider perspective.
We look forward to welcoming you and your teams to Hong Kong in 2026, where together we will continue to build on the momentum created in Sri Lanka.
With kindest personal regards,
Chief Teete OWUSU-NORTEY FCILT FGIPS
President, CILT Interational
