Update from the CILT International President – January 2025
Dear CILT Members,
Warm greetings, distinguished colleagues, and compliments of the New Year.
As we embark on 2025, a year marking the beginning of the second quarter of the 21st century, it is an opportune time to reflect on the achievements of past years and embrace the future technologies and innovations that will propel our profession forward to meet the evolving demands of society.
In my years of service within our institute, I have come to deeply appreciate the invaluable contributions of our VOLUNTEERS. Their selfless dedication of time, energy, expertise, and resources is the bedrock upon which CILT thrives.
To acknowledge and celebrate the impact of our volunteers, I am delighted to announce the launch of the VOLUNTEER OF THE MONTH AWARD. This recognition programme will highlight the outstanding contributions of our volunteers across the globe. Please follow our social media channels for further details and join us in celebrating these remarkable individuals.
Likewise, the first edition of the CILT e-Journal, Motion, will be released in February. This biennial, digital-only publication actively seeks contributions from industry experts, thought leaders, and practitioners who are shaping the future of supply chain, logistics, and transportation. Whether you’re pioneering new technologies, implementing innovative solutions, or driving sustainability initiatives, your stories and contributions for the publication will be highly appreciated, either in feature format or as concise, engaging updates about events, achievements, and developments in your region, with engaging pictures showcasing the best of our profession. Full details on how to contribute will be circulated soon.
Looking ahead, 2025 promises to be an exciting year:
- From 28th to 30th April, all roads lead to Kigali, Rwanda, for the 18th AFRICA FORUM, themed “Sustainable Logistics and Green Transport Solutions for Africa.” This event will showcase inspiring case studies from across the continent, highlighting innovative approaches to addressing climate change. Many of our educational programmes emphasise sustainability and decarbonisation, aligning with the International Education Standards Committee’s review of our syllabus.
- The INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION will be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka, with the exact dates to be confirmed.
- The 2ND INTERNATIONAL DAY OF SUPPLY CHAIN, LOGISTICS AND TRANSPORTATION will take place on 3rd November 2025. I encourage all members to participate in celebrating the achievements of our sector and inspiring young people to view our profession as a dynamic and rewarding career path.
I greatly value hearing from individual members about how CILT has inspired them and the activities of their local branches. Please feel free to connect with me on LinkedIn and all our social media platforms.
CILT International is now on Instagram! Follow us on Instagram at @ciltinternational for updates, stories, and achievements from across the global CILT community. Join the conversation and celebrate the impact of supply chain, logistics and transportation professionals worldwide.
I also encourage you to attend the upcoming “Meet the Council of Trustees” webinar on 5th February 2025. This is an opportunity to engage with the Council, ask questions, and share your valuable insights on the future direction of our sector.
I look forward to engaging with many of you in diverse ways and also eagerly anticipate seeing the inspiring activities and achievements of the global CILT family showcased on social media.
