CILT Australia appoints first woman National Chair in its 91 year history

CILT Australia has announced the appointment of Karyn Welsh as its new National Chair, marking a historic milestone as the first woman to hold the role in the Institute’s 91 year history.

Karyn brings extensive national leadership experience across logistics, transport, compliance and sector transformation. As Chief Executive Officer and National Manager of CILT Australia, she has played a central role in strengthening professional standards, modernising accreditation frameworks and supporting digital innovation across the supply chain.

Her leadership has been instrumental in advancing the CLOCS A Standard, developing scalable compliance pathways and improving access to accreditation for operators of all sizes. This work has supported safer operations, stronger governance and greater national consistency across the sector.

As National Chair, Karyn will lead the Institute’s strategic direction and governance, while strengthening engagement with industry, academia and government at a national level. She will continue to advocate for safer, more efficient and more sustainable transport and logistics systems, alongside the ongoing professional development of Australia’s transport, logistics and supply chain workforce.

Karyn’s appointment reflects her long standing commitment to collaboration, capability building and sector wide improvement. Her leadership also represents a significant moment for the profession, reflecting the evolving leadership landscape across logistics and transport in Australia.
