#IamTheFuture: Meet the next generation shaping logistics and transport
Women in Logistics and Transport, known across the CILT community as WiLAT, has introduced a new initiative focused on strengthening youth and next generation engagement across the profession.
AGLOW stands for Ascend, Growth, Learning, Opportunities and Wisdom. These five values underpin its work to help young people develop their knowledge, build professional connections and discover opportunities across logistics, transport and supply chain.
The initiative is designed to support young people aged 15 to 25 and next generation professionals under the age of 35. It aims to bring students and emerging talent into closer contact with established industry professionals and create a stronger, future focused global community.
AGLOW’s first storytelling campaign, #IamTheFuture, will introduce six young professionals from around the world over three weeks.
Each participant has followed a different path into the profession. Their stories will explore the work they do, the experiences that have shaped them and the impact they hope to make across logistics, transport and supply chain.
Together, the six profiles will highlight the breadth of opportunities available within the profession and show how emerging professionals are already contributing through technology, sustainability, innovation, leadership and community impact.

Boscco Leung
Social Responsibility Lead, MTR Corporation, Hong Kong
For Boscco Leung, working within the railway sector is about more than connecting places. It is also about connecting people, communities and purpose.
As Social Responsibility Lead at MTR Corporation in Hong Kong, Boscco works to bridge corporate objectives with the needs of local communities. His role brings together social responsibility, public engagement and lasting community impact.
“A railway connects a city. My work connects purpose with people,” he explains.
Boscco describes his work as connecting the dots between corporate purpose and community needs, much like a railway connects different parts of a city.
Through his #IamTheFuture story, he highlights how transport organisations can play a wider role in the communities they serve, creating positive change one station at a time.
Ayşe Aslı Başak
Deep Sea Captain and Founder and CEO, Shipsider Maritime Technologies, Türkiye
Ayşe Aslı Başak’s career has taken her from navigating the world’s oceans to leading digital transformation within the maritime industry.
Her experience as a Deep Sea Captain taught her discipline, resilience and how to remain steady through uncertainty. Today, she brings that experience into her work as Founder and CEO of Shipsider Maritime Technologies.
Ayşe is using artificial intelligence to help create a maritime industry that is smarter, safer and more sustainable. Her work demonstrates how operational experience and emerging technology can come together to strengthen global trade and resilience.
“The sea taught me discipline, resilience, and how to stay steady through uncertainty,” she says.
Her story also reflects a wider view of the future of maritime. Shipping is not only about moving cargo. It is about using innovation to help move the world forward.
John Tang
O2O Instant Logistics Pioneer and Co Founder, Huolala
John Tang’s story is rooted in the belief that innovation begins with the courage to build something that does not yet exist.
As Co Founder of Huolala, John helped build the company’s domestic local logistics operating model from the ground up before expanding and localising delivery ecosystems across Southwest China and supporting international expansion into global markets.
His journey has helped redefine how cities move through instant logistics, demonstrating the role that resilience, execution and bold thinking can play in developing new solutions.
John also challenges the idea that career potential within logistics should be limited by academic background.
“The logistics industry has no career ceiling limited by academic background. True growth comes from bold innovation, execution, and persistence.”
His message to the next generation is simple: challenge convention, embrace innovation and be willing to create new opportunities.
Ek Tangkittipaporn
Cross border and Ecommerce Manager, Profreight Group, Thailand
For Ek Tangkittipaporn, the future of logistics is built through collaboration as much as individual talent.
Working as Cross border and Ecommerce Manager at Profreight Group in Thailand, Ek helps connect Thailand and China through logistics and ecommerce, supporting Thai SMEs as they prepare to access international markets.
His work spans cross border trade, ecommerce growth, SME export readiness and business mentoring. He also works alongside government agencies, industry partners and Alibaba.com to help businesses overcome export challenges through practical training and digital solutions.

Through nationwide SME roadshows, mentoring and wider industry collaboration, Ek’s story shows how knowledge sharing can help businesses move from local success towards global opportunity.
Surahtul Imran Ali
Marine Maintenance Operation Manager, OMS Group, Malaysia
Much of the infrastructure keeping the modern world connected sits far beyond public view.
Submarine fibre optic cables beneath the ocean carry nearly 99 per cent of international digital communications, connecting countries, economies, healthcare systems, businesses and families.
After graduating with a Bachelor of Maritime Operations, Surahtul Imran Ali chose to build his career within the specialist field of submarine cable maintenance.
Today, as Marine Maintenance Operation Manager at OMS Group, he coordinates complex offshore operations involving specialised vessels, subsea infrastructure and marine crews.
His work has contributed to restoring critical connectivity across the South Pacific, including networks serving Tonga, Tokelau and Australia.

Behind every successful operation is a human impact. Families reconnect, students return to online learning, patients regain access to services and businesses reconnect with global markets.
Imran’s #IamTheFuture story demonstrates how some of the most significant work within the maritime profession happens far away from the spotlight.
Josiah Murahwa Josiah MILT
Supply Chain and Logistics Professional, Zimbabwe
Josiah Murahwa’s career is still developing, but his story is built around the belief that professionals do not need to wait for seniority before they begin making a contribution.
Through hands on experience across procurement, logistics, transportation planning, supplier management, customs compliance, inventory and cost management, Josiah is developing an understanding of how individual decisions connect across wider supply chains.
His experience includes cross border supply chains linking Zambia, Malawi, South Africa and Mozambique, giving him exposure to the people, processes and decisions required to keep goods moving across borders.
“You do not have to wait until you are senior to start making a difference.”
His commitment to development has already been recognised through the CILT Best Overall Student Award in Movement of Goods in 2025 and selection among the CILT UK 35 Under 35 Young Professionals in 2026.
But recognition is not where Josiah sees the journey ending. His approach is to keep learning, improving and contributing as new opportunities arise.
His story closes the #IamTheFuture series with an important message for emerging professionals: meaningful progress does not require the biggest title. It starts with making the most of the opportunities already in front of you.
Six careers, one future profession
Across six very different stories, #IamTheFuture has explored community impact, artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship, ecommerce, digital infrastructure and international supply chains.
Together, Boscco, Ayşe, John, Ek, Imran and Josiah demonstrate that there is no single route into the profession and no single definition of what its future will look like.
