The World in Motion: The Resilience Issue is Now Live
Issue 3 of The World in Motion explores how transport, logistics and supply chain professionals are responding to disruption and building resilience across the global industry.
We are pleased to share Issue 3 of The World in Motion, CILT International’s global magazine. The World in Motion brings together insight, expertise and perspectives from across our international network, reflecting the forces shaping supply chain, logistics and transportation worldwide.
This latest edition is The Resilience Issue. At a time when geopolitical uncertainty, shifting trade routes, climate pressures and rapid technological change are testing global systems, it examines how the profession is adapting, making informed decisions and finding new ways forward.
Across the issue, resilience emerges as more than the ability to react to disruption. It is built through skilled people, reliable data, flexible infrastructure, professional standards and collaboration across sectors and borders.
A Message from CILT International’s President
The edition opens with a welcome from CILT International President Jan Steenberg FCILT, who reflects on resilience through the Institute’s three strategic pillars of professional standards, collaboration and sustainable growth. Readers can also meet Jan later in the issue, as he discusses his three decades with CILT, his priorities as President and the importance of creating greater value for members across the global network.
A Vision for CILT’s Next Century
CILT International Secretary General Paul Macdonald CMILT shares his vision for the organisation as it prepares for its next century. He discusses the new CILT strategy, the role of the Global Collaboration App and how stronger connections across countries, sectors and professional interests can support the worldwide CILT community.
Elsewhere in the issue, leading industry voices examine how global freight is responding to sustained disruption. Lars Jensen, CEO of Vespucci Maritime, explores resilience in container shipping and Africa’s growing importance to future freight markets, while Rico Luman of ING Research considers the lasting impact of geopolitical instability, changing trade routes and climate pressure on ocean freight.
The edition also looks at how technology is reshaping decision making and workforce development. Features explore digital modelling, artificial intelligence and machine learning, alongside the importance of building the skills needed to use these tools effectively.
Sustainable growth remains a central theme, with insight from Sea Cargo Charter Chair Engebret Dahm on emissions reporting, regulatory uncertainty and the role of reliable data in supporting long term decarbonisation.
Across the CILT network, readers can discover the latest progress from the Global Rail Group, revisit the 2026 CILT Africa Forum in Malawi and learn how branches are collaborating on digital trade infrastructure, regulatory change and professional knowledge sharing. The issue also introduces CILT’s new education modules in Green Logistics and Sustainability, Digital Supply Chains and Technology Transformation.
Issue 3 of The World in Motion is now available to read online.
Members, branches and partners are encouraged to share the magazine across their networks and help extend the reach of its insight, ideas and perspectives.
