Looking Ahead: Setting Our Direction for the Future

CILT sets out its strategic direction, focused on professional standards, collaboration and sustainable growth, underpinned by digital enablement.

As CILT enters its Royal Charter centenary year, the Institute is setting out its strategic direction to guide the years ahead. Grounded in our heritage as a Chartered professional body, this direction focuses on ensuring CILT remains relevant, resilient and digitally enabled in a rapidly evolving global landscape.

At its heart, the strategy reflects our purpose to advance professionalism across supply chain, logistics and transportation while strengthening the global community that sits at the centre of our Institute.

A message from our President, Jan Steenberg FCILT

As we look ahead to the next 100 years of CILT, our focus is clear. We must remain relevant, resilient and digitally enabled for the future of transport, logistics and supply chain.

Our refreshed strategy sets out how we will do this through three pillars: Professional Standards, Collaboration and Sustainable Growth. Together, they strengthen our role as the leading professional organisation for the movement of people and goods, while staying true to our values of being stronger together and grounded in mutual respect.

Digital enablement underpins all three pillars. As part of this commitment, we intend to launch a new Global Collaboration App at our annual convention in September 2026, connecting members across geographies, disciplines and career stages.

What this means for our community

This strategy will guide decision making, investment and activity across CILT’s global network in the years ahead. It provides a framework for how we support members at every stage of their career, engage with partners and respond to the changing needs of the profession.

As we move into our next century, we remain committed to openness, collaboration and continued dialogue with our members and stakeholders as this strategy is delivered.
