Hi there! My name is Keno, and I am from Hong Kong. I am currently a Chartered Member of CILT Hong Kong. I am working as a Far East Director for a company called Charles Kendall Freight, which is a UK based freight forwarder.
When and why did you decide to become a member of CILT?
In 2010, actually I was meeting with the former Chairman of CILTHK in a worldwide networking conference. When he was coming to me, I still remember that was very interesting. He was telling me all the good things about CILT and encouraged me as a young member to join CILT. That was my start of joining a CILT life.
What are the benefits of being a member of CILT?
After I joined CILT, actually there are quite a lot of benefits to me including I have attended a lot of professional seminars, shared by the professionals in our industry on different topics. Actually I learnt a lot from them and also I can enhance my knowledge in this field. So, there are quite a lot of benefits including meeting some new friends at a similar age, and many people in senior positions in our industry. I would like to say there are quite a lot of benefits since I joined CILT. Fortunately, I was also nominated to capture the Young Achievers Award in Hong Kong back in 2013 and became Highly Commended in the International Young Achievers Award 2014.
I started learning more professional skills and attended some professional seminars and enhanced my knowledge in the industry. The company gave me a chance and promoted me to General Manager
What difference has being a member of CILT made to your career?
After I joined CILT, actually I made some good progress in my career of being a CILT member. Firstly when I joined, I still remember I was just a Regional Manager looking after the Far East Region for the company. And then because I started learning more professional skills and attended some professional seminars and enhanced my knowledge in the industry. The company gave me a chance and promoted me to General Manager and then few years later I become a Director and then later on, until now, I am in the main Board of Directors of the company.
What do you think the future holds for you and CILT?
For my service in the CILT, actually I am currently in the Young Professional Committee and also sit in the Logistics Policy Committee. So, for the future I would like to contribute myself more, and time for the CILTHK and also CILT International, to contribute what I have learnt and share my experience with the young members, encourage them to join the big family.
What message would you give to someone just starting out in CILT?
For the message I would like to give to those who are new to CILT, first of all, I encourage you guys to actively join more our activities particularly if you are the young members. You will find a lot of fun in joining all our activities in CILT. Not just Hong Kong, but also in other countries and regions, and you will get a lot of fun in meeting a lot of new friends.
